COW Discord Community provides opportunity for amateur players

COW is a Discord Community for amateur Overwatch players looking to break into the scene and hone their skills. The server is a great place for upcoming players to find like-minded players and form teams, compete in many different types of events and have fun in the process.
The mastermind behind the COW Discord Server, iKhoN, saw a need for it in the community and had previous experience working with amateur eSports scenes.
The COW community is focusing on hosting two main weekly events but is also looking to expand their offerings in the future. "Dodgeball" and "Minutemen" are their current weekly events where players can sign up and compete for fun and hang out with other people in the server. This server is a great place for amateur players and aims at giving them more ways to work towards the pro scene.
Weekly Events
Dodgeball is an event with a draft style similar to a children's dodgeball game - two captains are picked and they alternate picking players until they each have a full team. Then the teams battle it out, all in good fun.
Minutemen is essentially a Solo Queue tournament, which is a great way to meet other people in the community. Players sign up and get assigned to a team that they play with through a tournament bracket. In the future it will be a random drafting style to make it fair for all players.
They're hosted every Thursday at 8 p.m. EST and are being streamed at Twitch.tv/Thatsgottabekayne until the server has a dedicated Twitch channel. Ideally, as the server grows and they find more people to host events, Dodgeball style events would be hosted on Tuesdays and Minutemen events would be hosted on Thursdays to give tons of players an opportunity to get involved.
These two events are the server's "for fun" events while they also work on progressing to more competitive events in the future. This is just the beginning for the COW server as iKhoN wants to see where it progresses in the future.

COW Summer League
The biggest recent announcement from COW is their new summer Overwatch league coming where they've teamed up with Cybergamer.com to host two divisions over the next month, giving many Overwatch players a chance to break into the scene. There will be both an amateur division for more serious teams as well as an open division that's free for anyone to join and test their skills. Winners from the open division will get free admission into the amateur division next season.
The amateur division has a $10 signup fee for each team but will have a prize pool for the finalists with the final prize amount depending on how many teams sign up. On top of this the winners from the amateur division will gain free entry to the intermediate division coming next season.
How to get involved
There's still time to sign up for this league! The last day to sign up is June 18th and the season schedule will be posted on June 20th. Then, from June 21st to July 12th teams in both brackets will be competing to come out on top and move on to the finals.
These are just a few things the COW Discord Community is doing right now and they're always looking to improve their events, as well as take suggestions on future events from the community. So far, the community response to COW has been very positive.
They post sign-ups and info on their events on Twitter @COWLeague and are actively looking for event staff to make everything possible. If you're an amateur player looking to join an Overwatch community, definitely take a look at the COW Discord Community!
