Player Spotlight: Reinforce, Winning. Always winning

Overwatch Gosu “GosuGamers” Gamers

In this series from GosuGamers, we are going to introduce you to some of the best players that Overwatch has to offer. A lot of the current top players have competed at a high level in various other games and genres before joining the Overwatch scene. These player profiles aim to provide you with information on their previous competitive history (including team history) as well as a brief overview of the player's Overwatch preferences. Let's have a look at this new organization that is debuting in Overwatch: Rogue.

Gaming History

Most of the people we feature in these spotlights have always focused on becoming high level competitive players. Jonathan "Reinforce" Larsson is slightly different however. Even though he was always interested in competition, there was never really a game that he felt at home at. Instead, Reinforce focused on other aspects of the eSports industry and quickly climbed the ladder in that regard. Whether it is him observing for major Heroes of the Storm tournaments, or working for The GD Studio, or writing editorial pieces, Reinforce has kept himself quite busy.

Now, however, he has decided that Overwatch is finally worth his fullest attention. He never let go of his pro player dreams, and is currently well on his way to fulfil Shia LaBeouf's words: Don't let your dreams be dreams! First goal: BlizzCon.

Quickfire Questions

Leagues or Brackets? Brackets, preferably double elimination. No meaningless matches!

Overwatch Credentials

Team History:

MyDong (April - May 2016
Rogue (May 2016 - Now)

Notable Achievements:

Reinforce is a founding member of the Rogue team. He was seen as an somewhat odd choice and his close ties to the original leader (for MyDong), Mendokusaii, might have helped to cement his position in the initial lineup. Afterall, Reinforce’s only high level competitive experience in any game were the two weeks he spend on Creation eSports, prior to teaming up with Rogue. That being said, Reinforce brings a lot of qualities to the table that aren’t as apparent to the eye of the casual observer: He possesses an incredibly high work rate and ethic and has a very deep understanding of the game's mechanics. On the flipside, he sometimes risks focusing too much on the overall game mechanics, and less so on his own. If he manages to find the right balance between individual and team improvement, he could become one of the best Reinhardt’s in the game. Something which he currently, despite the success of his very own team, isn’t just yet. His Reinhardt is solid, and so is his playstyle. While he rarely makes mistakes and plays one of the most passive Reinhardts in the European scene, a lot of opportunity is still left in finding the right times to be aggressive.

That being said, it would be foolish to underrate Reinforce: His involvement in the overall playstyle of Rogue, his leadership abilities and his contributions to Rogue’s overall gameplan make him a lynchpin to the success his team is having right now.
