Although Karont3 e-Sports Club shuttered its Starcraft 2 division after the departure of Vortix and Lucifron, the remaining players still wanted to represent the team in the Acer Teamstory Cup.
Lucifron and Vortix made Karont3, not only in the sense that they were its star players, having ammassed results that put them on the top of Europe's ladder, but that, quite literally, they represented half of Karont3's four man Starcraft 2 division. The remaining two players, viPro and LoLvsxD, couldn't hope to carry on
Yet hope they did. Acer's Teamstory Cup uses a best of nine format, which would have made Karont3's four man team a non-issue. Fortunately, teams are allowed the use of a single mercenary player. For Karont3, this was Alternate Attax's Socke.
With Vortix and Lucifron going to Mousesports, the team was not only down to a mere 3 players, but also nameless, an ad-hoc collection of players with no real organization behind them.
Reading through the sides' statements describes the issue as one of communication and bureaucracy. While it's true that misunderstandings, compounded by TakeTV's hesitance, were involved, the problem at heart is one of succession.
We spoke about this topic intern and ofc with all other teams in the league as well. We didn´t kick just anyone. We tried and thought about it all the way and spend a lot of hours to let ex-K3 players play in our Acer TeamStory Cup any longer. But with the leave of viPro, LoLvsxD's "team-search" and Socke as the joker, without any company - this roster of ex-Karont3 isn´t Karont3 E-Sports Club anymore.
Karont3 no longer has a Starcraft 2 division. As regards ATC the team no longer exists, therefore no amount of players, however willing, can represent it.
TakeTV failed to adequately deliver this message, and the players failed to understand that they could no longer embody a team that had chosen to remove itself from their world.
