Although not the worst teams this round, Team 8 and EG-Liquid cut it pretty close, sitting barely ahead of CJ Entus. Let's be fair, a 3-4 for the western duo would have provided a reasonably catapult at the start of the season. This late, though, it's quite the disappointment. Playoffs are becoming a mathematical impossibility. Even conceiving of the possibility of straight wins in the final two rounds, advancement would still rest in the hands of, say, Samsung KHAN.
We might have been optimistic in the past; we may have wanted very dearly to believe in Coach Park and his miracle. But we are now past the point where hope has any influence over reality. The final two rounds will probably see EGTL and Team 8 fighting to avoid the bottom spot. Whether this ends as a comedy or as a drama, it will probably rest on in the internal politics of EGTL, but for now it's safe to say the two are out of the race.
A more interesting fate belongs to Samsung KHAN and KT Rolster. One team is currently in the upper half of the rankings, the other just beneath advancement. As happy as KT Rolster might have been to crush Team 8, they were probably just as frustrated to see Samsung KHAN stay on top by clobbering EGTL. This under-over dynamic is going to be the focal point of the remaining rounds. KT Rolster doesn't even need to beat KHAN; the different in points alone ensures that KT will pass ahead with just a tie. KHAN has to be feeling the heat.
