The consolation tournament for the 2013 Winter Championship comes to an end as MarineKing and herO[join] try to make up for their performance at said event. The winner will be given $1,000 in prize money.
The 16 players that dropped out in the first round of the MLG Winter Championship have been given the chance to redeem themselves in this special Winter Exhibition over the past three weeks. Most of the matches have been played and now only two players are left to split the total of $1,500 between them. MarineKing and herO[join] are the last men standing as they face off tonight at 11pm CET (5pm EST, 2pm PST) in a best of 5 match.
While MarineKing was off to a rocky start, narrowly beating Seed 3-2, herO[join] had the significantly easier bracket by being granted a walkover against Feast and then marching right on through SaSe and ThorZaIN to the grand final. MarineKing, however, recuperated quickly from his early struggle, advancing to the finals without a map lost against both HuK and Bly.
Both players had their ups and downs in 2013, but with MarineKing’s fourth place at Iron Squid in January and herO’s strong performance in SK Planet Proleague, helping his team CJ Entus to a solid third place, either one of them would make a deserved winner.
