DarkForce retires from SC2

Team Alternate's zerg Jonathan "DarkForce" Belke announced retirement today via his Facebook page, pointing towards losing motivation and not enjoying SC2 anymore as the reasons for that.

One of the veterans on the scene, DarkForce has been around since the WarCraft days and continued maintaining his reputation upon switching to StarCraft 2 and has been regarded as one of the better German players.

In his parting message, Belke says he will be going back to playing poker while still keeping an eye or two on the professional scene.

DarkForce

Why did I decide to retire? There is two big factors. First of all, after EPS Summer last year and WCS Europe Finals my confidence in my play was pretty rock bottom and i never really managed to change that all too much, and confidence is super important to winning. Second, SC2 simply was not as much fun anymore which also decreased my motivation to practise. I tried to force myself to keep going many times, hoping once i perform better I will also have more fun again (winning alone is quite fun for me) but it just didnt come back.

Whats next? I dont know exactly myself. I will certainly not just disappear though.

Ill just make some Cliffnotes because im bad at writing:
-I will play SC2 now and then and do some coaching if there is still people interested.
-I will still follow the SC2 scene (as in watch tournaments, read forums etc.) and continue to make videos about tournaments, analyzing betting lines for matches etc.
-Mainly, i will be playing poker again, and so far it doesnt seem that dry and its going quite good (and its fun again after such a long break).
-Also I will play more League of Legends, but obviously its hard to break into the Proscene there, so im not going to put that much hope into getting anywhere there, but you never know what will happen
