Sting is one of those Korean Terrans who, apart from his performance in TSL4, has gotten very little chance to show off his skills. IEM has been a good tournament for him. Despite just barely getting out of his group and taking every series since to their full five games (and Lucifron and Yugioh are always opponents likely to make you sweat through your victories) he stands, at least in theory, a good chance to make it into the finals.
Vortix may have something to say about that. Not only did Sting take out his brother, Lucifron, but Vortix's play has been much more solid this tournament. He is one of the strongest European Zerg players, while Sting is merely a strong Korean Terran. Sting's playoffs saw close victories, but Vortix blew through his opponents with a pair of 3-0s. The Spaniard has the advantage, both in confidence and in bloodlust. Tomorrow the maws of the Swarm will open.
A Vortix/MC final was predicted by many, but then Grubby got in the way. His beating MC in a 3-2 series may be a symptom of his play in this tournament. Usually it's Grubby who takes the series all the way to end but never produces that last winning game to push himself deeper into the tournament. This time he succeeded. We won't have to wait too long to see if he's going to make to the finals. His potential opponents are sLivko, a Russian Zerg who is quite comfortable versus Protoss and who once built command centers versus Mvp. Whether sLivko can take out Liquid's silent Zerg, Zenio, is another matter entirely, but one can't help but feel Grubby, ironically, would stand a greater chance versus the Korean.

The final day of IEM Singapore will commence tonight at 04:00 CET.
