And surprised there were none as MLG welcomed a very familiar scenario of its: Naniwa as the lone foreigner amidst the sea of Korean wolves.

Naniwa’s sprint began early in the pool play with very convincing victories over Ret and BabyKnight which sent him to group’s winners bracket final. His reward: the chance to go head to head with a deity, KT Rolster’s Flash himself, who too was boasting a perfect run so far. A 2-1 by the foreigner sent Flash to the lower bracket making the foreign community explode with cheer but the “Ultimate Weapon” was not done. A win against Hwangsin shot him up again and in Group B’s Grand Final, Naniwa was shown that while gods do bleed, they are very hard to kill. A close 4-3 extended series pointed Flash as a certain Dallas top eight.

This was also the only group that saw a foreigner in the final or even in top four. In Group A, defending champion Leenock was reluctant on letting his crown go and played five ZvPs against Rain, San and Oz to make it the farthest.

While all this was happening, zerg youngster Life was portraying why he is in fact the Code S champion. Alternating between mirrors and ZvTs, Life graduated with the best score of all pool players and is a quarter finalist with 8-1, including two clear wins against Liquid’s Taeja.

Ironically, the most even group in terms of race distribution ended with a TvT grand final. Falling to the lower bracket in the very first round, StarTale’s Bomber had to machete his way through Thorzain, Daisy, soO and Golden before playing Heart for the quarter final spot. It took him two tough 2-1 series to earn said spot and join Leenock, Life and Flash.
