Dreamz takes GMPGL DotA Luzon Crown

The Gigabyte Mineski Pro Gaming League (GMPGL) Luzon Dota finished their 4th season last weekend. Fans were expecting a lot of great action, and that they received.

Class G

Pacific iChill is on a mean streak, defeating Aphrodite on the Finals of the Class G division.

Surely, their slot on the finals were well-earned. Both Pacific iChill and Aphrodite were unbeaten on the Group Stages. The former then defeated back-to-back champion PMSki, while the latter defeated Pacific LiveandWired on their respective Sem-finals matches.

The finals match saw a nostalgic return of Spectre - and fans were reminded what a farmed-up Spec can do.

When asked about the win, Pacific.iChill's Nheg responded "Our win is the result of our hard work. We are thankful for the support of Madam Vange, Kaye, TryQ and Jeff."

Class A

It is most likely a mere coincidence, but an MI Legarda Qualifying team won the Class A division again, as veteran team Peralta defeated NeoPH's sister team Apple Park on the finals.

The Class A division, was as usual, very well-contested. More than a hundred teams competed on 9 different venue qualifiers, which produced the 9 playoff teams. Among other teams reaching the playoffs were former Class S teams Sweetopia and Pacific.Palit, but both eventually fell short. Apple Park fought valiantly from the Loser's bracket, but unfortunately lost steam on the final match.

Class S

It was the last scoring league of the GMPGL Season 4, but these top teams showed no sign of letting it easy as they competed on a grueling Group Stage. There happened to be 3-way ties on both groups, which lead to the unfortunate exit of Pacific.eMaxx and Mski.Powercolor due to inferior time ratings.

Dreamz advanced through the Winner's Bracket by defeating Trojan.TnC and Group Stage conqueror iZone. iZone, on the other hand, fought off a strong MSI on the LB finals to set up the Championship. However, the Steelseries-sponsored team didn't get to use their twice-to-beat advantage, as they stomped through iZone on the finals. Julz's Windrunner was all over the map, getting kills and/or towers whichever lane he rotates.

MSIEvoGT, despite being consistently strong on this event, gained the distinction of not being able to win even a single leg.

However, while topping the standings does mean a lot of proud moments, the real competition will be on the Finals of the GMPGL. That is why another big story is the conquest of MI of the 5th place and taking 10 points, which is just barely enough to put them ahead of Pacific.Palit for the 6th place. The top 6 on the GMPGL Luzon Rankings will to join the Grand Finals this coming October. They will join qualifiers from Visayas, Mindanao, and several other wild-cards to contend for the Championship Tournament, with the winner (regardless of their qualifying score) being sent to the prestigious SMM '12.

Unofficial GMPGL Rankings as of 4-9
1. Philippines Drmz Ledion SteelSeries 182 pts
2. Philippines MSIEvoGT 138 pts
3. Philippines Pacific eMaxx 136 pts
4. Philippines iZONE GIGABYTE 120 pts
5. Philippines QUBE Sweetopia 91 pts
