Lucifer just keeps bringing us Recommended Replays lately, and this week's ZOTAC final was no exception. Two games from the best-of-five got a full 10/10 rating, but the undead player was only able to win one of them as he fell to a 3-2 defeat. TH00 got off to a good start on Amazonia, but Lucifer battled back quickly, tying the game up on Turtle Rock after a drawn-out battle over TH000's expansion at one of the central gold mines.
Then Twisted Meadows came along and brought us a true epic. This 40 minute game wasn't the most action-packed, but the tension was nigh unbearable. Lucifer never got off one base, but TH000 never reached level six on any of his three heroes. Neither player ever made it to 60 food, although the human built almost that many towers. In the end, it was a race between TH000's ability to re-expand and Lucifer's ability to blow up towers. Pandas are pretty good at that, it turns out, and Jinto Reedwine put Lucifer 2-1 ahead.
Last Refuge wasn't about to let the game end easily either. Lucifer went for his trademarked Lich first on this map, but when TH000 cheekily expanded at his opponent's natural, things got interesting pretty quickly. The game came as close to trench warfare as WC3 can handle, with Lucifer constantly putting siege to the very forward expansion. But as Lucifer battered down the door to the town hall, TH000 was busy building another one. The undead had spent nearly all of his resources by now and all TH000 had to do was hang on, and so he did, taking the match to its final game.
Despite having a rating of eight on our replay section, the final game was a bit of a letdown compared to what had gone before. TH000 got his expansion up early on Secret Valley and made a typical forest of towers. As Lucifer tried to cut his way through, the human player took a squad of footmen with his Archmage and slaughtered acolytes, forcing Lucifer to concede.
