The Escapist have published data from Xfire about the top 10 most played games by gaming time for the past one year. The numbers come only from European and North American Xfire subscribers for the time between July 2011 - June 2012.

The massive multiplayer RPG World of WarCraft is in the lead of all Blizzard franchises with more than 622 million hours played and is number two in the overall ranking. One of eSports' flagships - StarCraft 2 - totals at only 163 million, sitting in the lower half of the top ten between MapleStory and World of Tanks.

Somewhat surprising is to see the very fresh out of the oven Diablo III. The long-awaited sequel to the franchise has been on the market since May 15th this year but is already topping 172 million played hours and sitting at number five in the overall ranking just six weeks after its release.

As uncontested leader stands Riot Games' League of Legends with more than double the played time of runner-up World of WarCraft. Here is the full list according to Xfire and DFC Intelligence:

League of Legends: 1,292,502,456
World of Warcraft: 622,378,909
Minecraft: 371,635,651
