Orange eSports and Mineski victors of Day 1

Mushi and XTinct preparing for their match against SB.

The first day of the TGX 2011 convention saw two DotA matches being played live on the main stage. The first match was between Aeon and Mineski Infinity which the latter won convincingly. Orange Esports, the new team with Mushi, Winter and Xtinct, also won their match against Starsboba in the afternoon. Here is a short recap.

Game 1
Philippines Mineski InfinitySingapore Aeon
Beastmaster Vengeful Spirit Earthshaker Queen of Pain WindrunnerBroodmother Prophet Enigma Warlock Oblivion

An aggressive early attempt at getting towers was met with swift response by the Philippine side as they were able to resist Scourge's attempt at pushing their towers. The map control afforded by Prophet was also unable to net Aeon early kills - instead, they found themselves on the receiving end of ganks as the Vengeful Spirit and Earthshaker combo made easy work of the Aeon lineup.

As Queen of Pain entered the team fights after she got her levels, the match was already one-sided and it was left to the Philippine side to take the first game of the day with spectacular style and team play. The Aeon side found no answer to the burst damage and and stuns on the Mineski side and a "GG" call was made before the 30 minute mark.

Game 2
Malaysia Orange eSportsVietnam Starsboba
Vengeful Spirit Venomancer Broodmother Lich Priestess of the MoonWindrunner Beastmaster Crystal Maiden Lord of Avernus Nerubian Weaver

The second match of the day pit two neighboring giants Orange eSports and Starsboba. The Malaysian side were able to dictate play early in the game with their lineup, taking kills all over the map. Mushi's Broodmother even got himself an amazing triple kill by turning around a gank by Scourge's triple lane. Sentinel was aggressive and constantly applied pressure on all lanes, taking down easy towers.

However, Starsboba was not willing to let Orange eSports into their base. With the tank Abaddon at the forefront, the Vietnamese were able to stall off Sentinel's advances until Weaver managed to get a radiance. Following this, the mid-game prowess of Weaver and Abaddon dominated a couple of teamfights that ensued and at one point it even seemed like they were going to make an astonishing comeback.

Sadly, it was the misfortune of two team fights that sealed Starsboba's fate. The first gave away an Aegis which Broodmother by then already even had a Blink Dagger, and hence managed to even out a crucial team battle. The second was also the result of an Aegis on Broodmother and a buyback which gave the Malaysian team double barracks, something Starsboba failed to come back from. After one last push and sixty minutes of play, the third barracks fell and Starsboba called "GG".

Much more action will be available tomorrow as TGX 2011 will play out the remaining matches of the DotA Regional group matches as well as the finals. Stay tuned for more updates!
