Sahamies played 1,132 hands, most of it against Viktor “Isildur1” Blom. With the massive victory, Sahamies has moved from a deficit of $800k on Stars to a $600k profit in just the last few weeks and over $750k in just the last 48 hours.
The pattern for Blom has been a disturbing one where he kills the 6-max high stakes PLO games, last night going up around $500k, only to switch to high stakes heads-up tables where he has been dominated by Phil Galfond and Sahamies, losing it all and more. Those ultimately donating to Galfond and Sahamies indirectly included Ronny “1-ronnyr3” Kaiser, Theo Jorgensen and Niki “RealAndyBeal” Jedlicka.
Blom's volume is impressive, logging 2,942 hands. But to finish with a $76k profit after being up around $500k and after being down from the last few days, it has to be seen as a big disappointment. Blom, while destroying the 6 max games has shown little control in the heads up matches, often gambling and behind heads-up.
With more American high stakes stars set to join the PokerStars big games after relocating outside the U.S., the action could continue fast and furious for the foreseeable future.
