In a battle of young Scandinavians, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom proved in dominating fashion that he is a master at heads-up matches defeating Terje "Terken89" Augdal in the latest SuperStar Showdown. Blom won Augdal's entire $150,000 match bankroll in roughly 1500 hands of the scheduled 2500 hand match limit.Fresh off last week's victory where he vanquished Rui "PepperoniF" Cao's $150,000 in similar fashion, the Swede seems to rise to the occasion for these heads-up matches with a focus he is unable to muster on his usual cash game wanderings. Blom enjoys the format of playing two tables each of Pot-Limit Omaha and No-Limit Hold'em.
Blom has now accumulated over $650k in winnings in his eleven SuperStar Showdown matches, which have gone a long way to reducing his regular cash game losses on the year. Despite these massive wins, Blom is still a net loser on the year in his cash game play on PokerStars.
Blom effectively moves to 10-1 in the challenges, with his only full heads-up match his first to Isaac Haxton. He has defeated Daniel Negreanu, Scott Palmer, Tony G, Eugene Katchalov and Dan ‘jungleman12’ Cates, Rui "PepperoniF" Cao along with a couple qualifiers.
One rumor has the popular PokerStars pro Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier as a possible next opponent. Regardless of who his opponent is, Blom should push to keep up these matches on a regular pace as they have proven extremely profitable.
