While French qualifier Philippe Massias is the chip leader with 175,600 and French singer, actor and poker player Patrick Bruel is also off to a fast start with 153,100, much attention is on Viktor "Isildur1" Blom who finished day one with 144,700 after being close to elimination earlier.A total of 891 players, 123 players more than last year, created a prize pool of €4,276,800. First place will take home €880,000.
Some notables surviving day 1 include Olivier Busquet (117,900), Juan Manuel Pastor (68,300), Jose Nacho Barbero (65,000), Salvatore Bonavena (63,300), Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (62,500), and Pieter de Korver (33,000).
Notables unfortunate not to advance include a jet-lagged Daniel Negreanu, World Champion Jonathan Duhamel, Liv Boeree, Dario Minieri, Arnaud Mattern and Jude Ainsworth.
