While French qualifier Philippe Massias is the chip leader with 175,600 and French singer, actor and poker player Patrick Bruel is also off to a fast start with 153,100, much attention is on Viktor "Isildur1" Blom who finished day one with 144,700 after being close to elimination earlier.

A total of 891 players, 123 players more than last year, created a prize pool of €4,276,800. First place will take home €880,000.

Some notables surviving day 1 include Olivier Busquet (117,900), Juan Manuel Pastor (68,300), Jose Nacho Barbero (65,000), Salvatore Bonavena (63,300), Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (62,500), and Pieter de Korver (33,000).

Notables unfortunate not to advance include a jet-lagged Daniel Negreanu, World Champion Jonathan Duhamel, Liv Boeree, Dario Minieri, Arnaud Mattern and Jude Ainsworth.

Day 2 play resumes Thursday.
