BlizzCon: Blizzard announces DOTA map

Hold on to your horses, Heroes of Newerth, League of Legends, Bloodline Champions and DotA2. Blizzard has announced their very own "DOTA".

The very much so popular 5on5 game hailing from the Aeon of Strife and early DotA stages in WarCraft 3 have had numerous of clones. With every gaming company hoping to land the massive crowd for team-based hero RTS play, Blizzard themselves have entered the fray as Blizzard are soon ready to roll out their custom map "Blizzard DOTA".

- "Blizzard's greatest heroes have been drawn from their respective universes to do battle on a chess-themed battleground. You control a hero and must level up, buy items, and work together with your teammates to defeat waves of units and ultimately destroy the opposing team's King Tower," says Blizzard.

DOTA, and three other custom maps (Aiur Chef, Left 2 Die and StarJeweled) is available for play in Hall B in the Anaheim Convention Center at BlizzCon. Fans who aren't there can enjoy the maps for free at some point in the future via Battle.net.

- "The custom maps created by the StarCraft II development team are currently in a preview state, and require additional development time as well as other work such as localization, before we can release them to the public. We plan to release these maps for free over Battle.net, one-by-one, over the coming months," said Blizzard.
