After a first round of games in WarCraft 3, we see the Russian Undead Dmitriy "Happy" Kostin defeat Zhuo "TeD" Zeng and take command of Group D.
The 2008 bronze medalist Happy overcame TeD in first match of the group stage at World Cyber Games. Thanks to fast fingers and great micromanagement decisions the Russian performed his Lich-Ghoul strategy well against TeD's Death Knight-Fiends combo.
Aside a creep-focused play, Happy teched up to Banshees while TeD went for an expansion. With "godlike" micro from Happy, he could then outplay the seemingly out of shape Chinese player.
Other players seemingly out of shape players were the Korean players Sung Sik "ReMinD" Kim , June "Lyn" Park and Hyo Sub "FoCuS" Eom who all lost in their first games. Sources to GosuGamers say the players suffer from jet lag after arriving only yesterday to USA.
Lyn lost in a very long and tough Orc mirror match. In a raider-filled game, Lyn was long down on one knee against Weilang "Fly100%" Lu, but in the third quarter of the game he seemed to turn the tide around. But thanks to a well-timed attack from Fly100% at 50 food count, Lyn was overwhelmed and typed out.
FoCuS lost to Russian Nikita "Nicker" Pomadov, and ReMinD to Danish Thomas "ThomasG" Glinksi.
