In what is perhaps one of the biggest announcements in recent HoN tournament news, The Digital Youth Award Program has partnered with CEVO to host the Digital Youth Awards 2010 World Expo Digital Games Tournament.
Sixty-four teams will be battling it out in two thirty-two team brackets with a single-elimination format for the right to be crowned North American champion. The winners will be receiving a coveted, all expenses paid trip to both the Dreamhack Winter Expo to compete in the DYA finals and also a trip to the World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
Perhaps even more important to this announcement is the fact that Heroes of Newerth was chosen as the official international game title by the Digital Youth Award Program for this amazing event. The DYA program is designed to foster youth cultural exchange, friendship and education via various forms of digital entertainment.
This can only be good news for S2 and Heroes of Newerth as it continues to develop in the eSports world. Official recognition by organizations like the Digital Youth Awards means more organizations will begin to support the tournament scene and foster international growth throughout the Heroes of Newerth community.
Signups for the event begin August 10th and will continue through August 22nd. The tournament is slated to begin on September 1st and will be sure to bring some top-tier teams to the table as they hunt for the right to not only compete in Dreamhack Winter in the DYA finals event to be held November 25-28th, but also the additional trip to World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
With these all expenses paid trips on the line, exciting matches are sure to erupt as the chosen sixty-four teams struggle for victory in what is shaping up to be an event of epic proportions. GosuGamers will continue to provide the latest coverage as this event draws closer and will be catching up with the teams as they compete for glory and the chance to compete at Dreamhack Winter.
