Jolie Interviewed

With slightly less than a month left until the ASUS Summer Open 2010 tournament, a legendary participant, Vasiliy 'Jolie aka PornTraktr' Pepelyaev, is interviewed. Jolie shares some of his insights for the future as well as his plans for the upcoming tournament.

Jolie is a DotA player who played a leading role in Virtus.Pro, KS.Int, DTS, and many others. Due to his teams' past unbeatable streaks, Jolie is often characterized as a DotA legend.

This interview was originally conducted by ProDota.ru and GosuGamers brings you the translated version.

Hello. Although you are well known, let's begin with an introduction to yourself.
Hello! My name is Basil Pepelyaev. I'm 23 and I am a DotA player.

What is your main reason for returning to the game world?
In fact, I did not plan to return as a player. I thought about doing a project related to Dota. Eventually, the project turned out to associate with HoN, so I found some time to play. I hope to grow as a player soon.

Lets talk about the main topic. Before ASUS Summer '10, which is about less than a month away, how is the training going? Who are the members of your team?
Training will begin within a day, and we will vigorously practice. As for the team, it is still unknown. It used to be PGG, Smile, Klif, Beast, XBOCT and myself.

Your main enemy, of course, is the team DTS.Chatrix. Do you think it will be easy to beat the top two of ESWC '10?
At the moment the situation is not in our favor. However, over the next three weeks, we have to play and improve in order to have a good chance of winning over DTS. I do not see them as an invincible opponent. However, we will only be able to play against them if we play as a strong team ourselves. It's too early to tell.

Which teams or players do you fear the most?
I am afraid only of ourselves. The only serious contenders in the near ASUS tournament is ourselves. I know what to expect from DTS and other teams, but what we can demonstrate is going to be a surprise to me. And I am sure that this will be a pleasant surprise. Everything depends on ourselves!

How do you play in a team with PGG?
We have not yet begun vigorous training as the team is rarely online. However, I play some games with PGG in EEDL, and I see that relative to our old relationship, we both grew up. Much is seen easily, at least for me. We both need each other's professional gameplay.

Good to hear. What's your opinion about Asian style? Also, what's your team's style of gameplay: Farming or ganking?
Asia, Asia... I would like to go there again for a month or two. My answer to both questions at once. Style is not chosen - the ratio of the ganking and farming depends on the ratio of imagination and brains to the amount of time and training. The more of the former, the greater the ganking. The more of the latter, the greater the farming. Farming lightly and more ganking is possible only in case of superiority of class. It is this superiority that we want to demonstrate in the ASUS tournament. By the way, even the smartest from 2009 already lost to an industrious EHOME.
