Beginning Friday July 23rd at 19:00 CET with Finale (xFin) playing against Never Back Down (NvD), this event promises to bring some exciting variety and a cash prize of $500 to the winner through the first ever tournament to make use of the Newerth League "league system".
Many well-known teams are participating, but one large notable absence comes from the absence of SK-gaming who will be sorely missed as they often provide some very exciting tournament play. SK-gaming has publicly stated that their absence is due to their players taking some well-deserved vacation time.
The absence of SK-Gaming could provide room for some unknowns to make a stand in the first phase of the event which consists of six groups that play round robin style with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the group of 16.
The third place teams from each group will be split into two groups of three after the initial round robin and compete in another round robin with the top two going on from each group to determine the remaining four teams that will advance to the group of 16 stage.
All matches are best of one until the semi-finals and in the case of a tie the Newerth League officials will utilize their built-in stat tracking system to decide on a winner based on the Head-to-Head results as well as things like Kill-death ratios for the teams in question in this event.
