Looking at the group results, one can clearly see where the surprise is. One of the most dominant countries for DotA, China fails to impress among the rest of the Asians. Deity fell to the might of StarsBoba from Vietnam and AlienwareDG from Indonesia, ending the nations dominance of DotA since SMM09.
The rest of the groupstage matches went without much surprise. Nirvana.my managed to prove that they are stronger with Mushi by winning both their group stage matches. Sending them into the Playoff stages along with Chinese Taipei. PEIN from Korea, BBH from Thailand and Yeuny from Australia were all tied with one win each. The tiebreaker was decided based on the number of hero kill counts for each team. In the end Korea and Thailand had the higher kill count, so they too advanced to the playoffs.
In group C, Aeon was able to bounce back from their EWSC defeat, standing tall in their group with two wins and no losses. While the Kiwis managed to scrape through their group with one win and one loss.
