Day one got off to a bumpy start when the WTV streams broke on the majority of the games and the Polish team, Universal Soldier, almost completely missed the tournament. Nonetheless, some great action ensued when everything picked up. The first surprise of the day came when Online Kingdom took down LOST in their first game of the day. The German team continued with the winning streak, topping their group with three wins and nine points.
Another big surprise was when the unknown Bulgarian team tried a very risky push strategy against AEON and literally stomped the ESWC 2008 champions. While TeG did not cause an upset as everyone hoped they would; they were the only team that was able give EHOME a run for their money. Day two ended without any further surprises, but it sure did set the tone for day two.

Just by looking at the groupings for the day, one can already anticipate a lot of action. The two Nirvana team were placed in the same group as Online Kingdom and MYM, while in Group B we had EHOME and AEON, the favorites to win the tournament along with LOST and DTS.
This is when the biggest surprise happened as AEON's hope of defending their ESWC 2008 title was quickly dashed when they lost all three of their matches. EHOME continued their winning streak by topping the group stage once again with a clear-cut, three game victory. The Russian team, DTS came in at second place allowing them to proceed to the playoffs.
Back in Group A, Nirvana.GiGa.int defeated their counterparts from Malaysia and thus claiming the title of the better Nirvana team. Online Kingdom's hope of entering the playoffs was cut short when they lost two matches to MYM and Nirvana.GiGa.int. The Danish team, MYM, had an impressive performance in day two winning two out of their three matches, dropping in their final game against the Malaysians. Group A ended with Nirvana.GiGa.int and MYM heading into the playoffs.
That's not the end of the day; however, as two of the playoff matches were played in the evening. With MYM taking on DTS and Nirvana.GiGa.int taking on EHOME, these match ups gave a fitting end to the day. EHOME and DTS were able to advance to the second stage of the playoffs while MYM and Nirvana.GiGa.int were sent to the losers bracket.
Day Three
The final day of ESWC was the best yet, DTS and EHOME put on a good show for the first match of the day. EHOME however, quickly took care of DTS gaining the one game advantage of being in the winners bracket. In the losers bracket, Nirvana.GiGa.int was not able to bounce back and lost to MYM, awarding themselves a good fourth place finish. MYM then moved on to face DTS but to no avail as MYM will have to settle with yet another third place finish in ESWC.
The finals between DTS and EHOME saw many users head over heels anticipating the results. DotACast saw eight thousand users tuning in even when Madmortigan wasn't streaming. But in the end, the Russians have to be content with their second place win, mirroring their second place win at ADL, losing to the Chinese as well. EHOME ended their campaign in Paris with a solid victory, not losing a single game at all. This is a feat that will be hard to emulate for any team.
