GosuFun had ended not too long ago with Online Kingdom emerging as the winners for this fun mini tournament and winning the whole team StarCraft 2 Beta keys. GosuGamers have managed to get some time with OK's Babyknight and Smiske for a interview about their thoughts of GosuFun and Capture Point mode.

With both players needing no further introduction, what was your first impression while playing a Capture Point competitive game?

BabyKnight: I thought it was gonna be a senseless waste of time, and I always thought of this new mode as being a joke, like -wtf mode. When we played it though, I really enjoyed it! You gotta think a lot when you play this mode and it's very entertaining, the first couple of times at least.

Smiske: Hmm not sure to be honest, my team told me to play so i played, but after playing the games I am very happy with the mode, and the 35 min rule. the last couple of months we have been out-farmed and lost a lot of games on farm. but in these games we where not able to get out-farmed ;) so it was a pleasure to play.

Morph, Nevermore, Medusa are all heroes that are completely useless in this mode since they can't head for farming in the lanes like they usually do.
How does CP differ in terms of strategy and laning compared to a normal CM?

BabyKnight: Farm. You don't wanna get a late-game hero for -cp mode, unless it's really strong with the items you get up to minute 10, and can be effective in these small battles at the control points (i. e. viper, bristle). Morph, Nevermore, Medusa are all heroes that are completely useless in this mode since they can't head for farming in the lanes like they usually do. There are some heroes which are imbalanced in -cp though (Furion, Puck ..). You can easily feel this difference when you pick and play

Smiske: Well it depends if u ask about the mode CP with the 35 min rule or without the 35 min rule. but i think in general it makes the heroes with blink and escapes a lot more viable. A hero like puck is so good and Furion who can be anywhere on the map. and with the 35 min rule you don't have to think so much about the late-game, you can pick heroes which are strong early and just get the auras and win the game, instead of playing against Medusa / pl / drow in a 70 min turtle game.

What would you change in CP? What's imbalanced or too weak to play it competitively?

BabyKnight: Cooldown on taking the points, as soon as a team takes a point there should be a cooldown of when you can take it again, and then perhaps change the number of points or nerf how much bonus it gives. Right now you just head over to a point, and either take a fight or dodge it and take a point. You could also make the points spawn longer into the game, or simply let it depend on which heroes both teams has. (i. e. players could vote in the beginning)

Smiske: have not really thought much about it. and i really don't know the stats of the auras, i just know that when u have 4-5 of those auras your incredibly strong and should definitely choose the team-fights. but i don't know whats imbalanced and whats not.. and have not thought about stuff to change either.

Will you practice for some future CP matches?

BabyKnight: No. I don't like the mode, it was cool to play it for a couple of games but it isn't the same as playing -cm or -cd. Farming is a part of the game, and even people with weak farming capabilities must live with it and either support/roam or learn how to and when to do it.

Smiske: We did not practice for this tournament i just think it fitted our playstyle, and we did a lot of theory-crafting before the games and ended up being right about whats good and whats not ;), so if we are going to practise CP i don't think so we are kinda weak in CM at the moment so guess we need to practise that for the time being, but it was a very fun tournament

I've had a Beta Key for a pretty long time, and I've played quite a bit of SC2. I LOVE THE GAME!
And will you move to SC2 now that you have keys?

BabyKnight: I've had a Beta Key for a pretty long time, and I've played quite a bit of SC2. I LOVE THE GAME! Things such as microing blink-stalkers or rushing for fast reactor on factory with helions to harras workers, or simply play a more macro-based game is so much more fun in SC2 than it was in SC:BW. I won't stop playing DotA, but I'll be sneaking some practice into SC2 when I can. :)

No, I love playing DotA and I love "team games".
Smiske: No, I love playing DotA and I love "team games". I tried playing SC1 back in the days and WC3 when it came out, but the games I have really enjoyed has been wow, DotA, and CS. where you can be on vent with your buddies and play together ;). so no I don't think I will switch to sc2 but I will buy the game when it comes out and play a bit for the fun of it. Of course I will play the beta now that I have the key.

Thanks for the interview, congrats for winning the first GosuFun cup and enjoy the beta. Do you have any shout-outs to make?

BabyKnight: Shoutout to DuRuM and his fellow cuban Fidel Castro. Also shoutout to all my fans that supports me and my team, and last but not least, gosugamers.net admins for organizing the tournament. KEEP IT UP!

Smiske: I would like to give a shoutout to Onlinekingdom organization and to gosugamers for the great page they are running and of course the rest of my team for just being great people. and last i would like to again give a shoutout to the shoutcasters of dota for making Streams a bit more interesting ;)
