Alienware Arena Funan preliminary finally comes to the end after two days of non stop action. Top teams like XtC, Aeon and Flash.DotA which is a mix team consisting of players from Axis, MCiTY and RoL were present for the event. Old school team, impreZa decided to pay a visit as well.
First day passed rather uneventfully as impreZa fell to Aeon in the second round and thus were eliminated. Aeon and Flash.DotA breezed past to get into the quarter finals.
On the second day, XtC faced off against Eclipse which was the first match of the day. This is so happened to be the first upset as Eclipse defeated XtC, one of the favorites to win this preliminary. Eclipse eliminated them with an Obsidian Destroyer and Omni Knight combination which proved to be very potent. The match of Aeon versus Flash.DotA kicked off around noon and it was a clash of the two remaining top tier teams. Flash.DotA had an interesting draft lineup, picking Weaver and Bone Clinkz and Treant while Aeon decided to get SF on hyhy and ToFu playing the Lina. Aeon defeated Flash.DotA with very good team play and proceeded to the finals.
Eclipse had a relatively easier time after beating XtC and met tehsmileisimba to decide who would be meeting Aeon in the finals. tehsmileisimba had picked Anti-Mage to counter Eclipse's Medusa and Anti-Mage had massive farm early game, managing to get his vanguard up under ten minutes. However a number of bad engages led to tehsmileisimba losing their farm advantage and subsequently Anti-Mage was totally shut down as Eclipse had three hexes on their team.
With Eclipse emerging victorious over tehsmileisimba, the finals have been decided being Aeon vs Eclipse. In the finals, Aeon proved why they were the top team around with almost flawless play and very few mistake. Aeon may have lost one or two engages but Eclipse could not capitalize on the slight advantage they had. After one quick engage, Aeon took down two towers in mid and barracks as well. Shortly after, Aeon took another engage and a GG came from Eclipse, crowning Aeon as champions.
