6.67 is now live on GetDotA.com, so head on over to download the latest installment in DotA. As usual, with every release comes new changes and fixes. This time around, no new heroes were added but quite a few old ones were reworked. Two new items were added into the mix as well.
Some heroes got some really nice buffs. In the case of Bone Fletcher, we may see him in more competitive games soon with his newly reworked Death Pact whereby he gains extra HP for a short duration for consuming units. Luna Moonfang was given a slight buff with her Lunar Blessing as well. She now gains enhanced night vision as well as damage bonuses, move over Night Stalker.The Nerubian family of Weaver and Assassin both had a slight skill set change. Nerubian Assassin lost his ability to return damage passively, but gains Nerubian Weaver's Urna Swarm. Weaver's Urna Swarm was then replaced with an interesting swarm-like attack that eats away at your armor.
The largest rework by far has to be to Treant Protector, Magnutaur and Soul Keeper. Good old tree now summons a sentinel with invisibility to watch over his lands. His sentinels have the ability to "defend" the turf that he is asked to watch over. Magnus now has no passive cleave and will have to rely on his empower for AoE damage. Magnus's new skill is similar to Spirit Breaker's Charge of Darkness but slows instead of bashes. Soul Keeper's Soul Steal now enables you to transfer your life force to your allies. Ethereal Blade, the new item that uses Eaglehorn, Ghost Scepter and Wraith Band works something like Obsidian Destroyer's Ultimate. When Ethereal Blade is targeted on an enemy, both Heroes are banished for three seconds and the enemy gets dealt 2.5x Agility of the caster. Great for high Agility heroes. Low mana, Strength heroes rejoice as the new Soul Ring comes to the rescue. With Soul Ring, Heroes are now able to sacrifice their HP for Mana.
Other changes of note is the new mode -cp (capture point) which is something like a capture the flag mode. Capturing a certain "point" gives you buffs for the whole game, but the opposing team have the ability to recapture it too. This mode is meant as a just for fun mode and should attract more players to the game.
The new changes to old heroes should be able to diversify the game more, with different Heroes being picked and new strategy being concocted by the DotA pros and players alike. So head on over to GetDotA.com to download the latest map now!
Update: 6.67b has just been published by IceFrog and only fixes some major bugs according to the change log:
