LEC Regular season its over, but... how are the Academy teams doing on the Regional Leagues?

EU Masters begin on April 8th!

(I’m only going to focus on the Regional Leagues with Academy teams, since I don’t follow the other Regional Leagues)

LVP UKLC: (UK)

Academies: ExelUK and Fnatic Rising

Format - Tower: Each week is an 8-team single elimination bracket. The winner of this bracket faces the tower champion of the previous week. Point score are given to each team according to each week results.

EU Master Q conditions: Reaching Playoffs finals. In order to reach Playoffs, teams need to be at least TOP4 on the regular season.

Status: With only two towers left and DBL sitting as the current king of the hill, Fnatic Rising barely stays as the top team with 11 points. Excel is on 4th position after a two 0 points towers, only getting 1 point on this tower too. In any case, they shouldn’t be afraid of missing Playoffs, since the score differential between the top 4 teams and the others are huge. Potential challengers for the academies are Diabolous Sports and MnM Gaming, those 4 teams have all the tickets to reach playoffs. In any case, both academies are not the favorites anymore, with 2 new contenders aiming for the EU Masters appearance.

Premier Tour Spring: (Germany, Austria and Switzerland)

Academies: SK Gaming Prime and FC Schalke 04 Evolution

Format - Open circuit: A series of tournaments are being held around Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Each team gains points based on tournament perfomance.

EU Master Q conditions: Being one of the top 2 teams with more points.

Status: With only one tournament left (Berlin), SK leads the scoreboard whit 490 points, with Euronics (400p) and Big (400p) being the other candidates for the EU Masters spots. S04 can’t reach EU Masters. Mousesport has a tiny, yet almost impossible chance to reach EU Masters if the top 3 teams choke on this round and they finish first at the end of the current tournament.

Ultraliga Season 1: (Poland)

Academies: Rogue Esports Club

Format: Double Bo1 Round Robin - 8 teams.

EU Master Q conditions: Reach Playoffs finals. In order to reach Playoffs, teams need to be at least TOP6 on the regular season, with TOP2 teams having a semifinal's winner braket bye.

Status: Rogue is smurfing on this league, finishing regular season with a 13-1 record. Their onlycompetition seems to be devils.one(11-3), their current rival on playoffs, in any case, they go as the favorites (devils.one has yet to beat Rogue once). And even if they lose against devils.one, they have a second chance to reach finals on the loser bracket against the weakest teams, so Rogue Academy has an ‘almost’ guaranteed spot on the EU Masters.

LFL 2019 Spring: (France)

Academies: Misfit Premier and Vitality.Bee

Format: Double Bo1 Round Robin - 8 teams.

EU Master Q conditions: Reaching Playoffs Gauntlet Finals (Finishing 1st on Regular season guaranteed a Gauntlet Finals appearance). In order to reach Playoffs, teams need to be at least TOP5 on the regular season, the higher the score, the higher on the gauntlet the team will be placed.

Status: French league is definitely one to look at. Only one more game has to be played. Team-LDLC dominated the league with a 12-1 score (Fun fact, they only lost against the second weakest team of the league) They’re already qualified for the EU Masters. Misfits is tied with GamersOrigin and ROG Esports (8-5) for the gauntlet second/third/forth spot, showing that the LFL is, indeed, a classic EU league. Vitality.Bee is on an even more complicated situation, They’re currently 5th with a 6-7 score, with aAa (or how i like to call them, CLG.France) going 6th only one game behind them. If aAa wins tomorrow and Vitality.Bee loses, aAa will take the last playoffs spots, since they’re 2-0 on the face to face. aAa faces the weakest team of the league on their next match, while Vitality.Bee has to face to the LDLC powerhouse. May Vitality.Bee be able to shut down Team-LDCL? May aAa choke again? Or will Vitality get out of the EU Masters race? Who knows…

LVP SLO 2019 Spring: (Spain)

Academies: G2 Heretics, Origen BCN and Splyce Vipers.

Format: Double Bo1 Round Robin - 10 teams.

EU Master Q conditions: Reach Playoffs finals or finishing first on the regular split (if the team which finished 1st on regular season reach the finals, the second finalist will be the qualified for the EU Masters). In order to reach Playoffs, teams need to be at least TOP6 on the regular season, with TOP2 teams having a semifinal's bye.

Status: Do you know the old “Everyone beats everyone and Fnatic wins at the end” meme? Well, remove Fnatic for the equation, and you have SLO in a nutshell. With only 2 matches left to end regular season, only MAD Lions, the first team of the league with a (11/5) record, has a secured Playoff spot and is trying to defend their first place in order to hit EU Master by all means. G2 Heretics and OG.BCN are currently tied with Vodafone Giants for the second place of the league (10-6), fighting for the BYE and the EU Masters “fast” lock since they’re only one game behind MAD. On the second half of the table, you have another triple tie with Movistar Riders, S2V and Penguins going (8-8). Splyce Vipers is only one game behind of those teams with a 7-9 score, fighting with the other 3 teams for the 2 remaining playoffs spots. And even the weakest teams are consistently taking some games here and there. Honestly, this league is scary, with MAD, OG, G2 and Giants being the biggest contenders for the EU spots.
