We were small, maybe 60 players on NA, but we had plenty of fun every weekend, hanging out in the custom games tab.
Any time I'd log into league I would go to custom games and search up a game to play, and there would be at least 3 rooms for each. Draft Race, King of the Scar, Hide&Seek.
It was great, but when we 'upgraded' to the new client, the custom games tab got lost in the UI and everybody just stopped playing. Along with this, we lost crystal scar which housed most of our modes.
It would be great to have a custom games editor similar to something like overwatch/starcraft, where the playerbase can make their own modes.
It's clear that people enjoy these kinds of modes (ARAM literally became it's own mode) and I'm sure it's better than getting hit or miss modes twice a year that might not be all that fun.
EDIT: it's not even a big problem that the button to play customs is tiny, it's the fact that you can barely customize anything in them, and the removal of CS from custom games prevents players from playing a mode that doesn't spawn minions.
