In light of what we're learning about how the internal culture of Riot works, Riot Sanjuro's public

At the time, it seemed pretty shocking that a senior Riot staffer would say things like, "he looks like a damn homunculus" or "honestly.. its fine he'll die from a coke overdose or testicular cancer from all the steroids.. then we'll be gucci" about a player.

Given what's come to light in the kotaku article and Meagan Marie's blog post about the kind of behavior that's commonplace at Riot, it's easy to see now why Sanjuro felt so comfortable making those offensive comments. They're just the sort of behavior that's normal in Riot's culture. Apparently he didn't realize that the toxicity that Riot's cool with internally isn't so well accepted publicly.
