The year is 2018 - against incredible odds and an unfortunate disqualification of Team Liquid from Worlds contention due to a steroid scandal involving toplaner Impact, the NA teams that qualify for worlds are Optic Gaming, TSM, and Golden Guardians. SKT managed to take the 3rd seed from Korea, with help of star midlaner, Pirean. A hard fought group stage and bracket stage matches bring Golden Guardians and SKT face to face in the worlds finals. SKT strikes hard and fast, putting them up 1-0. Golden Guardians strikes back with unpredictable macro, tying the match 1-1. An absolute beatdown in the toplane causes Lourlo to go into shock, and Zig, the Golden Guardians sub, takes the stage in his place. Down 2-1, Golden Guardians battles back, managing to take a game back from SKT, tying the match at 2-2 and sending it into the finals. SKT decides it is time to unleash the beast, and Faker takes the stage. Pirean, frustrated, disappears backstage. Meanwhile, the Golden Guardians discuss their options for the last game. Strategy coach Alex "Xpecial" Chu pulls out his cell phone; "it's time to shake things up," he says. "I've got a call to make."
As the players take the stage, something is off. In place of support Matt, Xpecial walks onto the stage instead. He looks into the crowd, pauses, and nods. Optic AD Carry Arrow and TSM star substitute Mike "MikeYeung" Yeung emerge from the crowd and run towards the stage. They jump over the monitors and throw GGS members Deftly and Contractz into the crowd. Pirean comes from backstage, walking towards the GGS side of the stage instead of towards SKT. As Xpecial walks Mickey off, Zig stares at the ragtag group of players in astonishment.
"After all this time?"
"Always," replys Mike.
Xpecial tears off his shirt, revealing an orange and black jersey underneath. As the referees search for an explanation, all he says is "the Phoenix always rises again."
