Worlds 2022: Beyond Gaming makes light work of LOUD to open their account

The PCS went above and beyond today against the CBLOL.

Beyond Gaming made light work of LOUD in the third match of day one in the Play-In Stage of Worlds 2022. With this being only BYG's second appearance at Worlds and LOUD making their grand debut, it did not go down so well for the CBLOL team. LOUD will be looking to pick themselves up after this loss as they have another game later against DetonatioN FocusMe. BYG, on the other hand, will wait until tomorrow to face Evil Geniuses.

Both teams excitingly started the match, trading the opening kills on supports only three minutes in. Diego "Brance" Amaral claimed the first blood with Seraphine but Wei-Yang "Wako" Zou managed to claim the counter-kill with Kai'Sa. Even Li-Kai "Likai" Lao got in on the action in the top lane soon after, getting a kill with Fiora.

A few minutes later, LOUD tried to push in numbers down BYG's first outer turret. However, they were met with reinforcements from BYG, who managed to keep LOUD back whilst taking two more kills for their troubles. Wako claimed his second kill of the game and even Huang "Husha" Zi-Wei got on the scoreboard with Sejuani.

With the mid-game approaching, BYG had a relatively healthy lead against LOUD when the first real five-versus-five came about. Likai was originally split from his team, giving them a numbers disadvantage, which LOUD took with pleasure. Unfortunately, they were corralled into a culdesac and were soon picked off one by one from BYG. Po-Wei "Minji" Lu even claimed a double kill for his troubles. He soon added a triple kill to that list, being the first to claim it at Worlds 2022.

The game soon became a slow push to the death from BYG as they were able to out-sustain LOUD in the battle of attrition. They even managed to pick up a few kills in their pursuit of the turrets that LOUD had left standing. Hoping to gain some vision and control over the map, three of LOUD ventured out of their base, only to be rushed upon by BYG within seconds. This spelt the end for LOUD as the PCS team went above and beyond to end the game with only three deaths to their name.

We head back to Group B now with MAD Lions going up against the Istanbul Wildcats from the TCL. MAD already has their first win under their belt and will be hoping to make it two-for-two to end the day. IW, on the other hand, will have a double-header with another match right after this against Saigon Buffalo from the VCS.
