CLG finally won a game this week, but they still have a long way to go

CLG was once a titan in the competitive North American League of Legends scene. They’ve earned an MSI runner-up placing, a couple of Worlds appearances, and even a few first-place finishes at home in the LCS. All of the pedigree is there to put them on par with teams like Cloud9 and TSM, and still, they haven’t found an ounce of success since 2016.

This season started out the same way the last four splits have gone for this formerly great team—horribly. They went 0-2 on the opening weekend against Team Liquid and, more embarrassingly, OpTic’s B-squad of Academy players. For all intents and purposes, it looked like the same old, same old on CLG. And then week two rolled around.
