RapidStar Retires from Competitive Play

In a post on Facebook, Korean powerhouse CJ Entus Frost has announced the retirement of their mid-laner, Jung “RapidStar” Min-sung.

RapidStar has been a staple on the competitive circuit for years, starting his career with Maximum Impact Frost in 2011 before moving to Azubu and then CJ Entus Frost. RapidStar is known for his dominant play, particularly on Lux and Anivia, and alongside his teammates took first prize at the Azubu Champions Summer (2012), second at the Season 2 World Championship (2012) and second at the IEM Season VII World Championship (2013) among many other accomplishments.

The announcement comes after CJ Frost fell 0-3 at the hands of Samsung Galaxy Ozone in the Champions Winter Quarterfinals, eliminating them from the tournament. The loss of RapidStar will be a massive blow to a CJ Entus Frost team which struggled to find consistency during the Champions Winter season.

The post on Facebook comes with a farewell video message from RapidStar himself, who says bids farewell to his teammates and fans and expresses many thanks for all those who helped him along his career.

Ending his career on a loss seems bittersweet to Rapidstar, as he says in the video:

“Personally, I have many regrets and feel sad about my retirement…I lost my confidence more and more. I feel shame myself, and sorry to my fans who supported me a lot”

He goes on to say:

“A lot of fans showed me there love so much, even though I’m not sure I really deserve it. I think it’s the right time to decide retirement for my life. I’ve had too much pressure…”

Finally, Rapidstar gives his final regards to his teammates, who he clearly hold is the highest esteem:

“If I were not to belong to CJ Frost, I think I couldn’t have been a professional gamer…I’m really glad I met them and I thank them very much”
