In a race to compete in a tournament that may determine which team makes it into the first split of Season 4's LCS and over $10,000 in cash prizes, Team Coast found dominance over COGnitive Gaming for the first game of the tournament. That was shortly followed up with a rather unfamiliar name in the scene going by Infinite Odds taking a win off Summer Split contestants Velocity eSports.
In Group B, a similar story would commence with the unfamiliar but uprising GGLA taking their first win of the tournament against Curse Academy. Following that match-up would be the long-standing amateur rivalry of To Be Determined against Complexity, where ROBERTxLEE and Co. fell victim to Complexity's new and improved playstyle. This put Complexity and Gold Gaming LA at the top of their respective groups.
