One seed for IPL 5 and eight Korean teams fighting for it: this is the tagline for the IPL 5 Korean qualifiers that begin on October 21st.
The eight teams are divided randomly into two groups of four and will play them out in a dual-tournament format in a dual tournament format that's used for GSL's StarCraft 2 Code S league and which goes like that:
Match 1: Team A vs Team B
Match 2: Team C vs Team D
Match 3: Winners of Matches 1 and 2
Match 4: Losers of Matches 1 and 2
Match 5: Loser of Match 3 vs Winner of Match 4
= Winners of Matches 3 and 5 advance to the playoffs
A single-elimination bracket will follow the group stage and the qualifier champions will win a seed into IPL 5 as well as a paid trip to the tournament grounds in Las Vegas.

Group matches are Bo1, Ro4 is Bo3 and grand finals are Bo5. A blind pick mode will be played in the deciding third/fifth game if one is necessary. The qualifiers themselves begin October 21-22 with the first three matches of every group and with the remaining two to be played a week later. The semi finals and grand final are scheduled for October 4th and 5th, respectively.
