CLG and Dignitas through to semi-finals

After a pretty uneventful opening day, could Friday bring more excitement to the North American regionals?

The opening game of the day saw Dignitas meet Dynamic for what seems like the 100th time. When these teams meet it’s usually pretty close, and game one definitely went that way. A good start for Nidalee and Dynamic gave them a small early lead, bug they were unable to capitalise. Dignitas looked much stronger in team fights and eventually just steamrolled to victory. Game two was much the same, with Dynamic getting another early lead. But as the game wore on, Dignitas became more and more dominant. Crumbzz on Jax was incredibly fed, and was able to jump into one-vs-two situations over and over again while his team dealt with the other three guys. It’s basically impossible to come back from that situation and apparently Dynamic are no miracle workers.

The last quarter-final and second match of the day was easily the most entertaining so far. Some crazy lane swaps by both teams, three teleports from CLG, not to mention the trademark promote support meant that this was unlikely to be a normal game one. Sure enough, it was a pretty brutal stomping, with CLG ending the game in a mere 27 minutes. The second game was much closer, and one of the most exciting games of high level LoL for some time. A good start for LgN was never hugely extended, but they maintained a small lead through most of the game. Teleport Sivir was giving them LgN palpitations and was able to knock down towers in seconds with absolutely ridiculous damage output. The game then became a base race, but LgN had just enough to defend and push onto the enemy nexus for a nail-biting victory.

Typically, the third game proved to be much more tentative. With both teams on the brink of elimination they played to avoid defeat. There were hardly any kills in the entire game, and just one team fight that happened as the baron buff wore off of CLG. It went in favour of Hotshot’s team, and they were able to push onto the nexus and into a semi-final match against Dignitas.
