Curse wins MLG Raleigh

An unusual bracket, an ARAM match in the final and a Curse victory. MLG Raleigh was one of the weirdest LoL tournaments to date.

Yes, you read that right. The first game of the grand finals of MLG Raleigh was played in All Random All Mid format. A controversial opening, definitely, but one that put Dignitas 1-0 ahead. In the first "real" game they extended that lead after a fairly tentative, passive game. 2-0 was as close as they would get to victory, however, as Curse suddenly decided to start playing.

Saintvicious' team took their own pair of back-to-back games, evening the score up at 2-2. The fifth and deciding game was a little more action-packed, but in the early stages both teams seemed more intent on avoid defeat. Curse managed to deny several buffs from their opponents and, after taking the first Dragon kill, they started to ease ahead. The lead grew slowly at first, but Curse had the momentum and were 10,000 gold up by the time they killed the Baron. Dignitas was reeling and were unable to steady themselves, losing towers, inhibitors and players. The game was over not long after that, and Curse were able to claim their first offline tournament win.

Although two of America's best teams didn't attend this weekend's tournament, the victory comes at the perfect time for Curse. With NA Regionals just around the corner, this success will bring the team some much-needed confidence and momentum.
