Coverage

VS

Key Points

  •  iG Lane swapped PDD to bot lane, solo Kayle
  •  iG learned from teams at All-Star, camped Xiyang mid
  •  OMG were shoved in after ganks and iG rotated across the map
  •  High mobility champions for iG meant contesting objectives was risk free
  •  iG avoided teamfights and pressured objectives doing so

Rather than expirimenting, iG stuck it out with comfort picks and PDD returned to his Kayle on the top lane.  While OMG may have went into All-Stars with loads of additional personal experience, Invictus Gaming had a lot to study from and utilized the information very well.  Learning to cap XiYang was key to taking him out as a major threat of the game, making victory easier for iG.

Invictus Gaming came in with a strong early game, as they typically would.  They established map dominance by shoving OMG into their towers and rotating across the map. Invictus Gaming's composition meant they could freely roam the map and take risky objectives, getting away clean while taking them.

While OMG could win in straight 5v5 teamfights, Invictus Gaming did a good job not putting themselves into that position and pressured objectives in small packs or solo.  With a solid execution of this tactic, Invictus Gaming took the first game.

Key Points

  • Xiyang targetted again
  • iG grouped better, superior objective control,
  • PDD pressured Ggoing in the mid game
  • Poor vision from iG allowed OMG to sneak baron
  • Chain CC allows OMG to crush in a teamfight and win

PDD switches comfort champions and utilizes Jayce this game to bully out Gogoing's Jax.  Once again, Invictus Gaming focuses Xiyang, who was able to play his trademarked Syndra due to a questionable Amumu ban in the hands of iG. Invictus Gaming looked like they were in shape to take a second game in a row with their superior grouping and objective control, but vision would be their largest enemy.

Because of lack of vision around baron, OMG were able to take it for free.  After they acquired baron and caught back up, chain CC in the jungle from OMG put an end to iG's team and allowed them to crush through for the victory.

Key Points

  • Pomelo has first successful gank, Xiyang on tilt and dies 1v1
  • OMG maintaned an early 2 tower lead for the first 20 minutes
  • iG pulls ahead in towers later
  • Zz1tai shows the strength of his Kassadin play the later the game goes

The series came to an end with a blind pick where Pomelo did a good job at applying the initial aggro.  Xiyang, the player with the most MVP points in China, seemed to be playing on tilt as he allowed himself to be 1v1 killed by Zz1tai's Kassadin with the assistance of a cannon minion wave.

OMG didn't start the game out poorly despite iG being the, generally, stronger early game team, however, and had acquired an early 2 tower lead for the first twenty minutes of the game.  Later on, Invictus Gaming were able to pull ahead in towers and secure objectives through their roaming power.

Most noteably, Zz1tai came out ridiculously strong this game; he's shown he can push an advantage after helping carry his team off his initial first blood.  The later the game went, the more absurdly fed Zz1tai's Kassadin was.  The original men in black were able to push OMG down to third place and move on to the grand finals.

  VS

Key Points

  • - Slow objective start, early kills picked up by WE's bottom lane
  • - WE entered mid-game with relatively large gold lead
  • - WE took out all inner towers before EDG grabbed their first

World Elite's bottom lane showed up to shine and get their revenge on their rivals. While not many objectives were hotly contested early on, Weixiao and Conan made sure to spring their team ahead early on, entering the mid game with a decent gold lead.

EDG looked heavily outclassed, kicking off the series.  All inner towers were down for Edward Gaming before they even began taking the first one of World Elite's.  World Elite created a larger stomp in this game than any other between the series' played today and closed out the only game that wouldn't require a baron to win.

Key Points

  •  Lane swaps, WE grab the first dragon
  •  Very "Kitey" fights
  •  EDG had improved vision and skirmishes

In the second game, EDG wouldn't be able to test their might in 2v2 action for their duos do to an early lane swap.  Not wanting to easily drop to the third place match and face OMG, EDG did not let World Elite freely control the pace of the game as they did last game.

World Elite did take the first dragon of the game down, but Edward Gaming were able to answer with a tower in response. The real pace setter for the game would be around 28 minutes where EDG would acquire a baron that would help them lots. EDG were able to achieve map control with superior vision and skirmishes, playing almost a "Fnatic" style in waiting in the brushes and annihilating those unfortunate enough to pass through. The series was pushed to a game 3.

Key Points

  •  EDG's overaggresion gave World Elite an early lead, specifically Ruo
  •  WE ahead on farm in every lane
  •  Nearly perfectly even Syndra mirror battles
  •  Better map movement by EDG, Clearlove Allowed to apply more pressure
  •  3 for 1 trade in favor of EDG allows them to push through and advance

Perhaps a bit overzealous on the momentum gained from the previous win, EDG acted too aggressively and allowed World Elite to establish early dominance.  Not onyl was their jungler ahead, but World Elite were ahead in farm for every single lane. The closest of the matches would be suk1M vs. U in the mid lane, battling it out in a Syndra mirror.

While Individually it appeared that World Elite had the slighest edge in this game, map movements were clearly superior for EDG and ClearLove used his farm to great strength in skirmishes.  The game would abruptly come to an end in a 3 for 1 trade favoring EDG, allowing them to push the inhibitor and also end the game.  World Elite meets OMG in the 3rd place match while EDG fight off against the surprising contenders of Invictus Gaming in the grand finals.
