Note that these are not necessarily the top players statistically, but those who had the greatest impact for their team.

Top Lane

1ST: Wickd

He really has been bringing Irelia back isn’t he? With three games on Irelia under his belt over the course of the second Super Week, all of them victories, it seems Wickd has found the champion he’s been looking for. Irelia does everything Wickd seems to like, making her the perfect pick – she can be tanky while still contributing to fights, lanes well, has few bad matchups and is a late-game duelling monster. It’s no surprise that Wickd keeps picking Irelia; if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

While he struggled early on against Gambit, he managed to claw his way back into the game and have an impact in the end. His other Irelia games against ROCCAT and the Copenhagen Wolves went much better, as he bullied Xaxus’ Renekton and YoungBuck’s Trundle heavily.

However it was Wickd’s troll game which really impressed – he was an absolute monster on Trundle against the Supa Hot Crew, going 1-0-13 while dominating Mimer.

It might actually be time for teams to consider banning Irelia away from Wickd, because Week 8 was the best he’s looked all season and perhaps his confidence on Irelia is why. But his game against the Crew proves that he’s not a one trick pony: watch out for Wickd as his confidence returns and Alliance looks set to make a late-season push.

Stats:

Total Score: 7-5-27    KDA: 12.4    Average Cs: 347    Best Champion: Trundle

2nd: Darien

He was strong in both of Gambit’s losses and he played even better during the wins. His Aatrox is undeniably top in Europe for his ability to turn early advantages into towers and his Shen and Renekton were solid.

3rd: YoungBuck

He has struggled mightily this season, but he actually looked really good in most of the Wolves’ games despite the pair of loses and his Trundle continues to impress. Ignore the numbers – YoungBuck played very well.

Jungle

1ST: Amazing

While the Copenhagen Wolves only went 2-2 during Week 8, Amazing was still able to retain his throne atop the jungle MVP list. Not to say that the other junglers were weak or that their numbers aren’t impressive – they are. But Copenhagen Wolves lives or dies on the shoulders of Amazing, and he continues to carry his team valiantly. Honestly, I’ve never seen a jungler who can essentially decide the fate of his team single-handedly like Amazing does.

Adding Evelyn to his champion pool was a risky call, but he made it work against Fnatic and consistently hunted down Cyanide in his own jungle. Against Gambit he continued his kill participation numbers despite the loss, maintaining an 80% participation rate.

While his Lee Sin, which has been spectacular the past couple of weeks was lackluster against Alliance, it would be remiss to ignore his beastly performance against Supa Hot Crew. Going 11-2-12, he only missed out on one kill, absolutely dominated the entire game start to finish and practically won the game all by himself.

For continuing to carry his team, Amazing remains the EU LCS jungle MVP.

Stats:

Total Score: 18-10-27    KDA: 4.5    Average Cs: 162.5    Best Champion: Lee Sin

2nd: Shook

It might be a controversial opinion, but I feel like Shook has so far failed to live up to the hype which preceded him into the LCS. But Week 8 showed me the error of my ways – his Lee Sin was brilliant, his Elise was immortal and his jungle control and ganking were top notch.

3rd: Diamond

Diamond hasn’t been wowing me this season as much as he has in the past, but a pair of solid games on Wukong and an impressive Lee Sin performance reminded me of why Diamond is considered one of the best.

Middle Lane

1ST: Froggen

Alliance continued their hot streak on even numbered weeks, going 4-0, and Froggen’s play was a massive reason why. Playing four different champions to great effect in all four games, ranging from assassins to poke picks, Froggen and Alliance clicked into place in a massive way for Week 8.

Against Gambit, he landed several key multi-man Lulu Glitterlances to swing the tides of battle and despite Alex Ich’s Kayle getting large Froggen held his own throughout the game. In the match versus ROCCAT, his Kassadin (a rare occurance) tore the enemies to pieces – a three man Force Pulse near the Baron was an especially good play.

His Leblanc wrecked Supa Hot Crew, leading the way with eight kills and handily besting Moopz in lane. Finally, his deathless performance on Nidalee seiged the Wolves into submission.

There isn’t much more to say: Froggen has long been considered as one of the best mid-laners in Europe and when he plays well there isn’t a man who can stop him. If Alliance is to  break their odd week curse then Froggen is going to have to keep up his phenomenal play despite the week off.

Stats:

Total Score: 20-4-23    KDA: 10.75    Average Cs: 340    Best Champion: Nidalee

2nd: Jesiz

This week goes to show my theory about Jesiz seems to be correct: when he’s on a safe champion like Lulu or Nidalee he thrives, but on an assassin like Zed he flounders and makes silly plays. He has been and continues to play well, but he needs to stick to what he’s good at.

3rd: Kerp

He was by far the best and most consistent member of his team during Week 8. His Ziggs was solid and his Leblanc wiped xPeke off the face of the map. Kerp has been teetering on the brink of excellence for a while – hopefully he can step up with Millenium staring down relegation.

Bot Lane Duo

1ST: Tabzz and Nyph

I firmly believe that Tabzz and Nyph are the strongest part about Alliance – even when the team struggled early on in the season this bot-lane duo maintained a high level of play. Now that Alliance is finally playing well, the true potential of the pair is showing.

With four games on Thresh, Nyph landed many key Death Sentences and Flays – the Chain Warden is clearly a high priority pick for Alliance moving forward, and for good reason.

As for Tabzz, his Draven is certainly of note, drawing several bans against him, but he also proved that he is no slouch on Caitlyn and Vayne, both of which he played to great effect.

Like I said, the duo is Alliance’s core right now: their strong laning keeps Alliance in it when the solo laners lose, their teamfight positioning and initiation is brilliant and they only continue to improve.

Stats:

Tabzz

Total Score: 19-5-23    KDA: 8.4    Average Cs: 362    Best Champion: Vayne

Nyph

Total Socre: 4-7-43       KDA: 6.7    Average Cs: 20    Best Champion: Thresh

2nd: CandyPanda and nRated

While I think nRated’s support Kayle is brilliant, his Annie is equally as strong and CandyPanda deserves a lot of praise for continually making Vayne work. Their lane performance against Millenium along got them on this list, but they were solid all week.

3rd: Genja and Edward

Honestly Genja has really been the star of the duo – his positioning is top notch, his play has been safe but deadly and he now sits atop the KDA board. The risk taker Genja of old seems to be gone, with the new-and-improved KDA machine to take his place.

Top Plays of the Week

1) Catch!: The Shook Alley-Oop Hook

It doesn’t get much better than this. Alliance’s Shook and Nyph showed off their perfect communication, chaining together to Flash abilities into a dazzling display of skill to secure a kill.

With ROCCAT’s Celaver pushing the bot-lane, Shook came out of the jungle hungry for blood – landing a Lee Sin Q, he quickly Flash behind Celaver and kicked him towards his team. At the same time Nyph Flashed forward and threw out his Hook, catching Celaver mid-flight and giving him zero chance of escape.

This really is a play best seen live to truly understand the skill and timing involved. Take a look and be amazed.

2) It's All Skill: Forg1ven Sniped from Downtown

The 2014 EU LCS has had its fair share of impressive snipes this season, but Forg1ven showed just how potent and impressive well placed cross-map Super Mega Death Rockets can be.

With Amazing and YoungBuck diving the Tier 1 bottom tower, they failed to get a kill on a low health Impaler and had to retreat in a hurry. But they needn’t have feared, because Forg1ven’s ultimate, launched from the Fountain was perfectly placed, killing Impaler instantly.

Great set-up, perfect aim – as Jinx would say: “SEE YA”

3) Master Yourself, Master the Enemy: Diamond’s Lee Sin Cleanup

Another play on the back of a tower dive, but this time is was the team which attempted the dive which got burned. With Freddy122 and Svenskeren attempting to kill Darien under his tower, the SK pair took a little too much damage and were forced to fall back in a hurry empty handed.

Unfortunately for them, they ran straight into Diamond’s waiting arms, who pulls off a flashy and skillful Lee Sin play to grab a double kill by Flash-Resonating Strike to kill Sven instantly and immediately kick Freddy out of his Slice and Dice.

Right place right time for Diamond combined with great mechanics earned Gambit a pair of kills and punished SK for their greedy tower dive.
