The Protoss marches on

As the GOM TV Intel Classic season 2 is getting closer to the end we see there's at least one Protoss in every match of the round of sixteen. Theoretically we could see quarterfinals with nothing but Protoss.

Another win for PvP champion Stork?
A lot of really good players have already exited this league. NaDa, FireFist, Boxer, Hwasin, Kwanro, Fantasy, Much, July, FireBatHero, GGPlay, sAviOr and last but not least the reigning champions from season one, JaeDong.

Therefore a few of the name that are left are a bit of a surprise. The CJ Terran SkyHigh hasn't really done much of anything before this league and pepe hasn't won any game, disregarding this league and the minors, since summer 2007.

Round of sixteen
Creationtoss vs SkyHigh
EffOrt vs BeSt
Flash vs TheRock
HoeJJa vs Bisu
Tempest vs Pretty
Mind vs GooJiLa
Stork vs BackHo
JangBi vs pepe

If you don't know some of these names, Creationtoss is aka sOo, Pretty aka Free and GooJiLa aka KaL. As mentioned before, it's possible that only Protoss will advance and it's not that hard to conceive if you look at the match list. The only real upset would be if TheRock got past Flash, otherwise it seems plausibe that we'll have a PvP bonanza coming shortly.

This comes on the heel of the pure Protoss semifinals of Club Day MSL, which used both Medusa and Destination. These are the maps that have been used in the latter stages of the Intel Classic as well as Neo Requiem. A quick look at the stats reveals a clear advantage for Protoss.

Mapstats
Medusa TvP 4-13 TvZ 7-14 ZvP 9-13
Destination TvP 12-18 TvZ 14-10 ZvP 11-17
Neo Requiem TvP 9-30 TvZ 20-18 ZvP 43-46

The next round starts off on December 7th with Creationtoss vs SkyHigh and BeSt vs EffOrt.
