The International 6: NA Playoffs Day 1

After the hiccup that compLexity gave Evil Geniuses yesterday with a tiebreaker for the first TI invite, the coL squad joins the 3-5 place finishers from the NA round robin in a double elimination bracket as they fight for the second NA invite to The International 6.

It seems the name of the game for the NA bracket was "2-0". Favorites compLexity Gaming and Digital Chaos handily took their series 2-0 against FDL and Void Boys respectively, pitting the two teams against each other in the lower bracket. Void Boys would fall to FDL, who now await the loser of a coL and DC rematch in the lower bracket final.

The first series of the day saw coL's first win, with some mid-game peaking cores in the Juggernaut and Templar Assassin. coL captain Kyle 'swindlemelonzz' Freedman looked especially strong on his signature Beastmaster, keeping up in net worth to the two  cores. coL closed the game out in just under a half-hour. Game two saw a coL back onto the deathball lineup, with their patented Death Prophet-Lone Druid combo. FDL countered with a team fight draft, looking for the big wombo combo potential in a Faceless Void, Phoenix, and Enigma picked. However, FDL couldn't seem to coordinate themselves. CoL took advantage of an early lead, securing FDL's three Tier One towers before the 15 minute mark and closed the game out just before 40 minutes.

The second series lasted only about an hour in total as DC defeated Void Boys, setting themselves up for a grudge match against coL, who they faced earlier in the round robin of the NA qualifiers. DC secured game one in a half-hour, with a magic and pure damage combo with a Lion and Lich, capped off by Aliwi 'w33haaa' Omar on his Q-E Invoker. Shaken it seems by the loss, and perhaps fatigued from the the past two days of continuous play, Void Boys simply couldn't find their stride as DC took game two in just twenty minutes and moved on to face FDL in the lower bracket.

The Lower Bracket matches seemed to reinvigorate both teams, as they faced off with some very competitive play. Game one saw a very aggressive early game from both teams. FDL's Quin 'CC&C' Callahan VB's Eric '747' Dong on Viper contested the the mid lane heavily against FDL's Quin 'CC&C' Callahan on the Templar Assassin. Meanwhile, FDL's offensive trilane countered with a pick of on VB's Dark Seer and Night Stalker early. VB would return the favour bottom lane night time, as the Night Stalker and Void rotate onto FDL's Oracle and Riki. This trend continued throughout the game as the two teams continually traded kills. However, it seems that FDL's line up just scaled too well into the late as a disastrous fight on the top lane cost VB the game.

The second game saw Void Boys take the aggression to FDL, as the squad continually stayed ahead of FDL with some very nice teamfights against FDL's push heavy lineup. However, the momentum changed when FDL's Beano 'beesa' Alder singel-handedly picked up a rampage on his Terrorblade in the midlane, wiping Void Boys and their Aegis before falling. Another disastrous fight by the Rosh pit proved to be the final nail in the coffin for VB as a timely double damage rune on beesa cost VB the Aegis and the game.

CompLexity and Digital Chaos face off tomorrow at 21:00 CEST and can be watched live here. The match will decide who gets the chance to compete for the second NA invite and the NA wildcard qualifier. The loser faces off against FDL in the lower bracket.
