AlexTheProG returns to Heroes with HGC aspirations

"I will be playing in the qualifier for "Damascuz bois" together with Ethernal, Crozzby, Remmerballer and Gnappe."

"When I left dignitas, i thought that I would never really have to explain myself, and just kinda leave the scene and "dissappear". Since I will be competing again in the 2017 season, I will share my thoughts of the whole retirement thing."

This is the beginning of a letter that Alexander "AlexTheProG" Grumstrup released via Twitter to officially announce his return to the Heroes of the Storm competitive scene. AlexTheProG was a standout Flex player for Dignitas and part of the old roster responsible for many of their championship victories. He isn't the first retired pro-player to come back in light of the revamped 2017 HGC and he certainly won't be the last.

Alexander describes his decision to retire as caused by increased pressure to perform and the anxiety that accompanies it. Citing "no energy" and a frequent feeling of "Just wanting to go home", he ultimately made the decision to not attend BlizzCon and seems to show some regret.

I didn't intend to go "pro" again, but the HGC sounds like something I want to be a part of, and i can study meanwhile.

Ultimately, his decision to return is about life balance. The structure of an HGC league allows him to still study and compete, something that was previously impossible when tournaments and competitive opportunities were so scarce. His new team, "Damascuz bois" will be playing in the first HGC qualifier and, under the veteran watch of AlexTheProG, might very well go on to be EU's next big team.
