The recent announcement of a one lane map gives hope of custom game modes in the future.
With ARAMs (All Random All Mid) being such a hugely popular way to play in MOBAs, it was only a matter of time until Blizzard implemented a map that compliments this mode. 'Lost Cavern' is their solution. It is a single lane map with vents to hide in and corridors perfect for flanking.
Since there are no map objectives and the only goal is to secure kills and destroy the enemy team's core, this map will currently only be available in custom. Setting it up is as easy heading into the custom game section and selecting it from the map pool. And as with any other lobby, you can also link it into chat channels with /lobbylink.
It's great to see custom game modes getting some love from Blizzard. Although this is only a single map, it gives players a bit more freedom with how they want to play in custom lobbies. We may even see a list of settings (similar to Smash Bros) to allow even further customization of your games.
With the improvements to lobbies and additions that improve community created game modes, the map editor seems closer than ever. Hopefully in time we will have an arcade like Starcraft where we can share and create custom maps, game modes, and more.
