Worlds 2022: Evil Geniuses and DetonatioN FocusMe wins on day 3

Evil Geniuses and DetonatioN FocusMe come out with the W on day three.

In back-to-back matches for Group A, both Evil Geniuses and DetonatioN FocusMe came out with the win in their respective matches against Chiefs Esports Club and Beyond Gaming. With that win, EG is now tied for first place with Fnatic while DFM is tied for third with LOUD. This also sets up a crucial match between both CHF and BYG later.

EG was near-flawless in their game against CHF, not giving the LCO champions any chance to play their game. In a must-win match, EG made sure that they were clinical from minute one. The likes of Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun was one of the standout players with his Azir, getting five kills and 12 assists to his name. Jung "Impact" Eon-Yeong on Gangplank and Muhammed "Kaori" Hasan Şentürk on Ezreal were instrumental in EG's win with neither member dying at all during the match while also getting four kills each.

For the most part, EG was able to keep CHF on a tight leash. It was very much unlike the earlier game between BYG and DFM. The battle of APAC saw Shunsuke "Evi" Murase bring out Lillia for the match and she proved to be a pivotal pick for DFM. But while Evi did get his share of the limelight (as he always does), it was Yuta "Yutapon" Sugiura who stole the show. His performance with Kai'Sa saw him die just three times while amassing 12 kills and 11 assists.

Both Lee "Harp" Ji-Yoong and Geon "Steal" Yeong Moon were key pieces in DFM's composition for that win. They each had 18 and 17 assists respectively with both players having a stellar game with pinpoint initiations to win crucial teamfights for DFM. While BYG did try their best to get back into the game, it was one to forget for the PCS squad. Po-Wei "Minji" Lu was one of BYG's better players of the night alongside Wei-Yang "Wako" Zou but it wasn't enough for them to grind out a win.

With both BYG and CHF losing, their upcoming match later today will be crucial to their tournament lives. BYG are currently fifth with a scoreline of 1-2. CHF are dead last with a scoreline of 0-3. If CHF loses, their time at Worlds 2022 is all but over. But if they were to win, it would put them tied for fifth with BYG, which could be an interesting turn of events come tomorrow.
