DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas - Participants locked in for Asia closed qualifier

Four teams finalise the participants list for the DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas Asia closed qualifier.

Mongolia The Mongolz, Indonesia Recca, Thailand Signature and China 5POWER conclude the list of participants at the Asia closed qualifier for DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas. The four aforementioned teams managed to secure 2-0 map victories against their respective opponents. Below you'll find concise recaps of each of the best-of-three series from each of the regional open qualifiers.

East Asia Qualifier

Mongolia The Mongolz vs. Korea YETTI
Winner:
Mongolia The Mongolz
Maps:
de_Mirage, de_Cobblestone - 10:5, 6:1 (16:6); 11:4, 5:2 (16:6)
MVP:
Mongolia Tsog "tsogoo" Mashbat

A comprehensive victory for the Mongolian roster, as the team swoops the Koreans 16:6 in both maps played. The initial map, de_Mirage, saw a strong T side start for The Mongolz. Ten rounds in favour of the victors as the head into the second half. YETTI weren't able to retaliate in the latter half, as the domination continued. The Mongolz go on to secure the six rounds needed to close out the map on the CT side.

On de_Cobblestone the Mongolians demonstrated an even more commanding start, as they thrashed their opponent on the T side yet again, this time with a whopping 11:4 half time score. Not a lot could be done considering the situation, as YETTI fall to The Mongolz with a 16:6 score.

South East Asia Qualifiers

Indonesia Recca vs. Indonesia Team nxl
Winner: Indonesia Recca
Maps: de_Mirage, de_Cache - 13:2, 3:0 (16:2); 12:3, 4:0 (16:3)
MVP: Indonesia Kelvin "xccurate" Susanto

Recca commence on the CT side of Mirage, where the team demonstrates qualities of an impenetrable shield. Despite all efforts, Team nxl simple weren't able to get past the defence, leading to a 13:2 half time score in favour of the Indonesians. The killing blow was dealt on the second half, where Recca grabbed the pistol round, complemented by the following two rounds to close out the match at 16:2.

De_Cache saw a familiar situation, whereby Team nxl were completely lost against their opponent. This time round the team was able to secure one round more than the previous map's first half; irrespective of the fact the score was not reassuring for nxl. Recca go 12:3 against their opponent, ever so close to closing out the series. Needless to say Recca close the series after securing four consecutive rounds on their T side, securing their placement in the closed qualifier.

Thailand Signature vs. Singapore dream[S]cape
Winner: Thailand Signature
Maps: de_Dust2, de_Mirage - 13:2, 3:1 (16:3); 11:4, 5:3 (16:7)
MVP: Singapore Phoomphat "qqGOD" Phojjanart

The Thais from Signature commence on the CT side of de_Dust2, where the match saw a lop-sided scoreboard. The defence was thorough and efficient, allowing for an incredible demonstration of dominance. The inability to trade effectively and hit shots when important lead to an extensive deficit for dream[S]cape, in the form of a 2:13 half. Signature clean up on the T side, where the team grabs three rounds to one, closing out the first map with a 16:3 score.

De_Mirage saw a bit more pushback from the Singaporeans. The initial half was still dominated by the Thais; however not to quite the same extent as prior, with a 4:11 at half time. In the second half dream[S]cape attempted a comeback, unfortunately to no avail, as the deficit, much like in the previous map, was far too large to contend. 16:7 in favour of Signature, meaning the team proceeds to the closed qualifiers.

China Qualifier

China 5POWER vs. China Born Of Fire
Winner: China 5POWER
Maps: de_Train, de_Mirage - 9:6, 7:2 (16:8); 9:6, 7:6 (16:12)
MVP: China Lei "forget" Li

The final qualifier saw the two closest maps of all the Asian open qualifiers. 5POWER kick off on the T side of Train, where the team accumulates a decent score by half time. Coordination, individual aim and communication meant a 9:6 finish in favour of 5POWER. After hopping over to the CT side, the team assumed a solid defence, where they shut down close to every advance from their countrymen, Born Of Fire. Said performance culminated in a 16:8 finish for the Chinese, one map away from a spot in the closed qualifiers.

The final map of the Chinese qualifier was de_Mirage, by far the closest map of all matches seen throughout the Asian open qualifiers. 5POWER start on the T side yet again, duplicating their score from the previous map, 9:6. Born Of Fire were not about to give up, as the team pressures the opponent on the offense. Seven rounds went in their favour, which unfortunately proved to be insufficient, as 5POWER land seven of their own to close out the China Qualifier at 16:12. The team proceeds to the closed qualifier.
