Decklist spotlight: zGGLeoz's ingenious techs and his GosuCup SEA championship decks

zGGLeoz has always been one of the most creative players in Southeast Asia region. In the last GosuCup SEA of the season, he cruised to championship once again, using a very peculiar line-up of decks.

A former GosuGamers crewmember and a Hearthstone old-timer, zGGLeoz is considered one of the godfathers of the game in Vietnam, and Southeast Asia in general. Last year, he was in a leading position HWC points-wise but fell victim to the qualifier bracket and couldn't quite make it to Blizzcon.

Although he took an extensive break from competing after the world finals, the tournament spirit in zGGLeoz seems to be rekindled now and he returned to grab a championship in GosuCup SEA #6. What's surprising isn't his triumph - in fact, that's long overdue - but what he used to crush his enemies.

The first two decks of his line-up look fairly standard, with just minor tech choices. Miracle Rogue with [card]undercity huckster[/card] has been trending on ladder and Control Warrior with a [card]kor'kron elite[/card] isn't exactly news. Even Freeze Mage with [card]kobold geomancer[/card] has been seen before, with DrHippi using it in StarLadder to get otherwise impossible exact lethals.

It only gets weirder from there though. zGGLeoz's Midrange Shaman has a very old-school aroma, with no [card]Doomhammer[/card]s present and instead going double [card]fire elemental[/card] and double [card]azure drake[/card] as value T5 and T6 plays and also [card]al'akir the windlord[/card] as finisher, very similar to what Loyan brought to HCT EU Spring Championship.

Without a doubt, however, the weirdest deck in Leo's line-up is his Reno-less almost-highlander deck. The deck features a lot of one-offs, baiting opponents into expecting a [card]reno jackson[/card] drop that never comes. Instead, we see a heavily defensive early game with double [card]doomsayer[/card] and even [card]ancient watcher[/card] that gets even more defensive with [card]faceless shambler[/card] in the mid-game and builds towards a big [card]lord jaraxxus[/card] and [card]ragnaros the firelord[/card] late-game finish. With double [card]mountain giant[/card], you can look at it as modern version of Handlock.

That's left-field deckbuilding if we've ever seen it!
