Yogg-Saron, C’Thun and their malefic friends will be corrupting the tavern end of April / start of May.
Between multiple speculation videos, intentional and unintentional leaks, podcasts and whatnot, the Hearthstone world had the pretty clear idea of Hearthstone’s new expansion. Yet, it’s good to finally have it confirmed by Team 5 themselves.
The third pack expansion for Hearthstone, Whispers of the Old Gods, will arrive end of April or early May, bringing in 134 new cards. A few of the new cards have already been revealed and the rest will be spoiled over the weeks leading up to the launch date. The expansion will also onset the arrival of the new standard format, as well as the highly anticipated changes to some of the strongest cards in the classic set.
Here is the information known about the Old Gods expansion so far, made available either through the presentation or via the March 8 press conference which GosuGamers attended:
- 134 new cards
- Release end of April / beginning of May
- Four old gods as legendaries: C’Thun, Yogg-Saron, N’Zoth and Y’Shaarj
- C’Thun will be buffable by various cards (cultists)
- It is a theme Team 5 has been considering for a while
- Players will be gifted three Old Gods packs
- Every player opening these free packs will find C’Thun and some cultists inside
- This will be the darkest expansion Hearthstone will ever get
- A part of the theme is “corrupted” minions, cards that are bizzaro versions of old counterparts
- There will be corrupted spells, too
- The announcement of which classic cards will be nerfed will be made close to expansion’s launch
- Patch on Monday, March 14, bringing the extra 9 deck slots and preview of the new UI
