A new adventure, The League of Explorers, is coming next Thursday

The next Hearthstone adventure has been announced and it is coming much sooner than expected.

The next adventure for Hearthstone is coming, though one might say it is quite a lot of adventures in one, as you will get to explore with the League of Explorers.

This pretty much flushes all the predictions, literaly no one saw it coming - still thinking about Icecrown, anyone? It's a massive change from the formula as the two previous adventures centered on single locations in Warcraft whereas this one centers on the work of the Explorers League.

Also shocking is that this adventure starts next week, on Thursday to be precise. It might be a good idea to start saving gold right away, because of course with any adventure comes a chunk of new cards and we got to see a few so far.

First off we got the "Explorer's Hat", a thematic but fairly uninteresting card for hunters. 1/1 for 2 mana seems lackluster even if you get to keep doing it. But we will see.

The adventure features a new keyword and mechanic, "Discover". It will give you three random cards to choose from. Which cards those will be be and what happens with them is dictated by the played Discover card, though the cards will always be limited to cards accessible to your class as well as neutral ones. Currently we have only seen it on one card, the "Jeweled Scarab".

We also meet one of the league's explorers, Elise Starseeker. She have a very peculier effect. When played, she adds a “Map to the Golden Monkey” card to your deck. Once you draw that, you can play it for two mana, draw a card and add the Golden Monkey to your deck. The Golden Monkey is a four mana 6/6 Taunt minion that replaces all cards in your hand and deck with legendaries. The fabled “decks of legends” will be real.

More cards as well as some of the challenges the league will face are sure to be announced at the upcoming "Future of Hearthstone" panel.
