VALORANT game director leaves Riot Games for Bungie

He has not confirmed which title he will be working on at Bungie.

Joe Ziegler recently announced his departure from Riot Games and revealed that he is joining Bungie. He was credited with the original game concept for VALORANT.

His departure announcement was made a couple of weeks ago, with him saying that he was "...departing with a heart full of gratitude for Riot Games and all of you for the amazing memories we've shared together." After his announcement, he did not share where he was heading, just saying that he will reveal his new company “very soon”.

A new post from him updated his fans that he is now with Bungie, popularly known as the developer of Destiny 2. He said:

"Update: Happy to announce my new home is at Bungie working on new stuff that hopefully will one day get to be played by you all. Much <3."

According to his LinkedIn profile, he has taken on the role of Game Director – the same position that he had in Riot Games.

As of now, it is unknown what title Ziegler will be working on – while Destiny 2 is the current focus of the company, the developer is working on a brand-new title. This is based on several new job listings on Bungie’s website.

Bungie is now working on Lightfall, a new expansion for Destiny 2 which is expected to release on 28 February 2023. The expansion pack will introduce a new sub-class for the game and is set in a new environment.
