TeCh) Starleague

The newly founded clan TeCh) has decided to host a semi-pro starleague. This league is of course not as widespread as the original situated in Korea, but could still bring some good game(r)s. The Starleague, as I've understood it, has some similarites to the real one(duh), but it looks to me that the league will be played in 1 day. It's a 32 man bracket system and divided into groups just as the original. The players that are in the league(could call it a tournament with starleague format due to the time) are invited by the hosting TeCh) clan.

The participants and why they are here:

8 Selected Players:
This was done based upon manner and previous gaming experience with these players. Selected from some of the top non-Korean players in the world.

Selected Players
1- VeG[pG]
2- Whiz{cD}
3- Liquid.Drone
4- Liquid.Nazgul
5- uG-Whear
6- Beast[BG]
7- CosMo[Rush]
8- iD.Twisted

8 Randomly Selected Players:
The 8 randomly selected players (drawn out of a hat with 40+ other players names) of which for the most part I don't know. Now the whole purpose of randomly selected group was to allow people who wouldn't neccessarily get invited to tournaments like this, a chance to play with a lot of good players.

Drawn Players
1- BeL
2- Kontra[MDK]
3- M1-Rush
4- Socke[pG]
5- Gryffindor_uS
6- uT)CyrAx
7- MGBOY
8- eN.Babylon

16 Semi-Pro / Pro Invites:
We ended up not inviting as many progamers as we would have liked because of manager issues etc... However the Koreans that are participating are of very good skill level, of that I can guarantee... However, because most of the players that got invited are not progamers, they are relatively unknown for the most part to foreigners. As such I will do my best to give yuo a little background on each player, so you know what you are up against.

TheCruise[GsP] --> 2100+ gamei Terran, and soon to sign on the Soul Pro Team. Known for his extremely good crisis management.

DDanGG[gm] -->Gosu terran user from the respected [gm] guild. Has participated in many amateur tournaments and semi-pro matches.

H_PauL_WII -->Most of you know this guy. Without a doubt one of the best Zergs currently residing outside of korea (Living in canada as a visa student). His manner is as good as his absolutely incredible macro game and Hive Art.

ZergStory_NamoO -->Up and coming Zerg player. Is well known in many progamer circles. Lives relatively far away from Seoul, Korea. As such progaming is something he hasn't had a chance to give much thought to, however, he definitley has the potential.

Jiny[joypop] --> 1900+ gamei Zerg user. He is young but very strong. Do not underestimate this player, I expect him to do very well with a very high APM rating, and quick micro art.

DebiT -->Placing top 8 in Canada 2002 WCG (losing to Grrrr...) He is a player who is only getting better. His ability to play random and adapt to any matchup helps him alot coupled with his relatively high APM.

(8)TheHunters -->Plays actively in many amateur to semi-pro tournaments. After his devastating loss vs Shinya[nC] in the last 512 player GhemTV tournament (after advancing rather far) has decided to play P as well as T to practise for future events.

LinYu)Pj -->Most of you know this player already. Many speculate that he is now the #1 player in China arguably. Possibly looking for revenge after his dissappointing appearence in the WDT finals.

TerAto[ZIN] -->Progamer on the PoS team. He is already making small waves in the progamer arena, clenching his jun progamer license last week after defeating Nal_GG in the MBC amateur league. He has fought past some fierce opposition and if he wins vs ggon this week, he will be in the finals for the MBC amateur championship. Extremely creative and good decision making ability make him a very lethal opponent. But because of his age, his potential is way too much to speculate over.

FreeGiSado -->Another aspiring progamer with a nice gamei point high. Most players know this old school gamer for some of the amazing replays realeased in 1.09. Lost vs Legionnaire in the MBC amateur league 2 weeks ago, after clenching a top 16 finish. Can play many different matchups, and do many different things. Could be dangerous against anyone underestimating his style of play.

Ever)T(Over -->Long time terran player from the sleeping giant Ever) guild. A solid player with strong build orders. Loves to play TvZ. 1800+ gamei high.

Ever)T(SayoO -->Possibly the best Ever) player as of right now. Although he is young, he makes wise decisions. His APM doesn't hurt him either. Easily toppling over some very strong players lately, its safe to say this kid might be the underdog of the tourney to root for. It will be interesting to watch.

OgogO[InCa] -->Well known in most progamer circles. His aka is plain Ogogo. Chogosu Zerg player with a very mean zvp. He will probably be the favorite in his bracket.

[BlaZe]Eugene -->Old school progamer that has been around the block forever. Now using Bz)Eugene id. He is still progaming however, without a team as of now. One of the best ZvT's in the world in his prime, Eugene definitely has the potential to run away with this tournament. Definitely a favorite no matter which bracket he gets put in.

Go[Gamei] -->Gamei protoss player with a high of 2196. Relatively unknown to most of the b.net world. This guy has extremely quick hands. It will be interesting how this amateur faces up to some of the other progamers.

Legionnaire -->Progamer sponsored by the iVenture_ team. Currently iVenture's only sponsored player. Has been in korea for over 18 months now. After his disheartening loss vs ggon last week in MBC, he is now training harder than ever in anticipation of OGN online qualifiers that start on either the 13th or the 17th of June. No doubt he will use this tournament to help practise even more before his attempt at qualification.

Could turn into a interesting league, though I have a hard time figuring out the winning chances to the 'foreigners'. (Almost none of them have real experience and the fact that half of them are protoss users, doesn't get any better considering the european time is close to 6AM)

TeCh) Starleague Season 1 Facts:
League starts 6.14.03 (2PM korean time / 0AM usa time / 6AM europe time)
Winner get's an offer to join the TeCh) team.
First spot has a prize(exact amount unknown as of right now)

GL all contestants,
Break a leg!
