ESL and PGL cooperate

The growing e-sport market in China attracts a lot of people, especially from companies that feel they can be a part of the rising phenomenon. Managers and important people from such organizations, and also PGL and ESL have met in China, where an announcement about interesting plans for the future of Chinese e-sport was made.

The two German organizations ESL and GIGA have joined a partnership with Chinese PGL and PPLive, where the different parts will cooperate to expand the growing Chinese game market even more. ESL, who has a well established platform for how to run gaming leagues and such, will help PGL to strengthen themselves in the area. The two TV-stations GIGA and PPLive will work closely to broadcast Chinese events in Europe, and vice versa.

With the coverage cooperation for various events from PPLive and GIGA, China hopes to be able to become the most powerful e-sport nation. At the contract signing ceremony a lot of powerful people, even from the Chinese government were attending. So we can actually expect this to become something really big. Taking over the throne as the number one country in e-sports from South Korea? Time will tell…

The games PGL will focus on are the most popular ones, such as Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike. According to the ESL news post we will see events both online and offline. “While the online games last all year, twice a month offline events will take place in the PGL studio in Shijingshan District, Beijing.”.
